Thursday, 31 January 2008: As the January transfer window finally shut, news of Welsh players embroiled in the annual final day bunfight was decidely thin on the ground.

Sticking with the young guns Crewe Alexandra must have wondered what it was about them and Welsh strikers that made their Gresty Road ground such an unpalatable place to ply their trade, as transfer deadline day saw the second Welshman spurn the chance of a move to the Railwaymen.
A few days after Forest Green's goal machine Stuart Fleetwood passed up the opportunity to move to Crewe, Bournemouth's Wales U21 striker Sam Vokes also turned down the Alex.......more
